Resumen
La Guerra Independentista de Cuba (1895-1898), ha sido objeto de decenas de estudios entre historiadores y estudiosos del tema en España y otros países, especialmente en los EEUU, donde se pretende reinterpretar la verdad histórica que se generaliza en el mundo académico, al enfocar las causas del desenlace bélico y el fracaso colonial en tres tesis clave: el pueblo cubano en armas no derrotó al colonialismo español; la derrota tuvo su génesis en el actuar negligente o caudillismo del poder colonial en la isla y por los errores estratégicos del gobierno español ante el emergente imperio norteamericano. Lo nuevo del tratado desde la visión historiográfica, no son las fuentes utilizadas, sino las inferencias a que llega el autor para argumentar las tesis anteriores que, aunque utiliza convenientes fuentes de prestigios historiadores cubanos, sus conclusiones son coherentes con las tesis enunciadas. El objetivo del trabajo es contextualizar la reinterpretación de la Historia patria a manos de aquellos que, más de un siglo después de haber sido derrotados en los campos de batalla de la Cuba libre y mambisa, pretenden crear mitos para seguir arrodillados ante el imperio yanqui.
Abstract
The Cuban War of Independence (1895-1898), has been the subject of dozens of studies among historians and scholars of the subject in Spain and other countries, especially in the United States, from where it is intended to give a reinterpretation of the historical truth, which is generalized in the academic world without any shame, by focusing the causes of the war and the colonial failure on three key theses: the Cuban people in arms did not defeat Spanish colonialism; The defeat had its genesis in the negligent act or warlordism of the colonial power on the island and by the strategic errors of the Spanish government before the emerging North American empire. What is new about the treatise from the historiographical point of view is not the source used, but the inferences that the author arrives at to argue the previous theses and although he uses convenient sources from prestigious Cuban historians, his conclusions are consistent with the stated theses. The objective of this work is to contextualize the reasons for the reinterpretation of the national history at the hands of those who, more than a century after having been defeated on the battlefields of free and mambisa Cuba intend to create myths to continue kneeling before the Yankee empire.
