XVII Taller Internacional “La Educación Superior y sus Perspectivas”
El patrimonio documental universitario que se atesora en los archivos históricos de las instituciones de educación superior (IES), es de vital importancia para el desarrollo de las funciones sustantivas de las universidades. Estos acervos registran la actividad de formación, investigación y extensión que realizan dichas instituciones educativas desde su surgimiento hasta la actualidad; por tanto, constituyen fuentes testimoniales sobre su historia y logros académicos, científicos y culturales a través del tiempo. De igual manera, resultan de gran valía para la toma de decisiones por la administración. En la ponencia se fundamenta la necesaria gestión de la comunicación en archivos universitarios para acercar los públicos (internos y externos) a estos centros. Ello permitirá, a través de acciones comunicativas y de difusión archivística, educar a la comunidad universitaria y la sociedad en general, en el uso y disfrute adecuado, así como el cuidado, preservación y reconocimiento de este bien patrimonial imprescindible para el presente y futuro de la educación superior.
The university documentary heritage treasured in the historical archives of higher education institutions (HEIs) is of vital importance for the development of the substantive functions of universities. These archives record the training, research and extension activities carried out by these educational institutions from their inception to the present; therefore, they constitute testimonial sources on their history and academic, scientific and cultural achievements over time. Likewise, they are of great value for decision making by the administration. The paper supports the need for communication management in university archives in order to bring the public (internal and external) closer to these centers. This will allow, through communicative actions and archival dissemination, to educate the university community and society in general, in the proper use and enjoyment, as well as the care, preservation and recognition of this heritage asset, essential for the present and future of higher education.
