Resumen
Los Veterinarios de Libre Ejercicio (VLE) históricamente trabajaron apoyando las diferentes campañas sanitarias llevadas por el Estado, sin mayores exigencias que el título profesional. La necesidad del Estado de reforzar los controles en toda la cadena agroalimentaria y de poder cumplir con las exigencias crecientes de los mercados internacionales y la conquista de nuevos mercados torna necesario una participación mucho mayor de los VLE y que estos deban tener capacitación específica para desempeñarse en las diferentes Áreas, por lo que la Ley 17.950 crea el Sistema Nacional de Veterinarios de Libre Ejercicio (SINAVELE), de forma que los veterinarios para poder desempeñarse en las diferentes Áreas que se vayan definiendo deberán estar Acreditados. La Universidad de la República es la primera opción para la capacitación para la Acreditación de los VLE, lo cual constituye un desafío importante ya que está en juego el estatus Sanitario del País y el trabajo de los VLE que necesitan capacitarse para poder Acreditarse. Una responsabilidad de esta magnitud exige un trabajo muy coordinado en Facultad de Veterinaria por parte de quienes tienen la responsabilidad final de las capacitaciones: el Programa de Educación Permanente y la Unidad de Educación Veterinaria, e implica además mucha sintonía y coordinación con el Ministerio de Ganadería Agricultura y Pesca y con el Comité de Acreditación, además de una permanente revisión de los métodos y de los contenidos.

The Free Exercise Veterinarians (VLE) historically worked supporting the different health campaigns carried out by the State, without greater demands than the professional title. The need for the State to reinforce controls throughout the agri-food chain and to be able to comply with the growing demands of international markets and the conquest of new markets makes it necessary for a much greater participation of the VLEs and that they must have specific training to perform in the different Areas, which is why Law 17.950 creates the National System of Free Exercise Veterinarians (SINAVELE), so that veterinarians to be able to work in the different Areas that are defined must be Accredited.
