XIV Taller Internacional “Universidad, Medio Ambiente, Energía y Desarrollo Sostenible”
El parque nacional de Montecristo es una de las áreas nacionales protegidas
administrada directamente por el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales
ubicada en el noroeste de El Salvador, considerado una de las zonas núcleos de la
reserva biosfera transfronteriza trifinio fraternidad integrada por territorios de El Salvador,
Guatemala y Honduras. Considerando lo importante que es esta zona, IEPROES está
realizando acciones en el marco del proyecto turismo sustentable, basadas en lograr una
relación social y armónica entre las comunidades y los guarda recursos. Las acciones
implementadas en los guarda recursos han sido capacitaciones como la legislación
ambiental en áreas protegidas, plan de emergencia y primeros auxilios ante situaciones
de desastres, trabajo en equipo que genere ambientes y entornos saludables.
En las comunidades se ha fortalecido una conciencia ambiental en el cumplimiento de la
Ley de Medio Ambiente en áreas protegidas como el uso de plásticos de un solo uso,
manejo de los desechos, control en el uso de agua y energía, asegurando la integridad
y preservación de los ecosistemas y apoyando la conservación de áreas naturales y
minimizando en lo posible su daño.
Considerando que la niñez juega un rol importante desde su formación, se ha realizado
educación en coordinación con la unidad de educación ambiental del parque en los
centros escolares

e IEPROES ha generado cambios en las conductas y responsabilidades del guarda
recursos, comunidades y población general en dar sostenibilidad a los recursos
naturales.
