Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las relaciones de conocimiento que se articulan en proyectos para construir un desarrollo rural sostenible para el Semiárido del Nordeste brasileño, analizando las prácticas cotidianas de los agricultores y su relación con las prácticas tecnológicas difundidas por Organizaciones No Gubernamentales (ONG). A partir del constante cuestionamiento mutuo entre la teoría y los datos de campo, el análisis se centró en comprender cómo los agricultores se apropian de los nuevos conocimientos y cómo interactúan con ellos. En términos metodológicos, se consideró factible situar la interacción de conocimientos entre agricultores y técnicos de ONG, posicionando el análisis según la pregunta de Paulo Freire (2006): ¿extensión o comunicación? El estudio reveló que la interacción de conocimientos se estructuró en una relación dialógica y comunicativa desde la perspectiva no sólo de la implementación de tecnologías más adaptadas a la realidad del Semiárido, sino también de los principios de participación y organización de los agricultores para fortalecer la agricultura familiar. tanto en el vínculo local como en la relación local-regional.
The purpose of this work is to analyze the knowledge relationships that articulate in projects of maintainable rural development construction for the semi-arid region in the Northeast of Brazil, analyzing the farmers’ daily practices and their relationship with the knowledge favoured by the rural school the technological practices spread by non-governmental organizations (ONGs) with local programs of production and dissemination of maintainable innovations. We took as empirical object the rural community of Lajedo de Timbaúba, municipal district of Soledade-PB, located in the very small region of paraiban Curimataú the Northeast of Brazil. It is a community where registers one of the first cases of maintainable rural development planning in the state of Paraíba. The analysis was centered on the farmers’ experiences of life in sustainability experience, trying to understand how they acquire new knowledge and how they interact with them. In methodological terms, it was considered feasible to place the knowledge interaction between the farmers, educators and technicians from ONGs by placing the analysis according to Paulo Freire’s questioning (2006): extension or communication? To understand how farmers relate to external knowledge, as they build, and produce new knowledge and rethink the meanings that they attach it was considered the way of living of the farmers researched, having as reference the experience in the material and symbolic production of their lives. It became indispensable, therefore, not to dissociate the knowledge relationships between farmers, teachers in rural areas and technicians from ONGs from the sustainability concepts, maintainable rural development, and rural extension.
